The application period for the APWA San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter’s 2024 Internships and Scholarships is now OPEN!

Each year the San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter of American Public Works Association (APWA) supports students in pursuit of technical degrees/training in a field that is related to public works.

This year, the outreach committee has combined the application process for both the Scholarship and Internship programs into one application form as shown below.
Criteria for both Programs:

* Students must be pursuing a degree in a public works related field, such as civil engineering, surveying, construction management, geotechnical engineering, or other closely related technical fields that feed into public works career

* Students must have an address during the 2024-2025 school year (For Scholarship) and during summer of 2024 (for internship) within the Chapter region (San Diego or Imperial Counties)

*Each selected scholarship recipient must attend an APWA Chapter General Lunch Meeting to be recognized by the Chapter

Additional information for scholarship applicants:

*The Scholarship program aims to support students who identify with an under-represented ethnicity and/or sexual orientation minority group

*In addition to pursuing a college degree, this program also has the option to support those who are pursuing a technical certification to become an operator or technician in the public works field

*Students shall upload two letters of recommendation that have been completed by two school-related references such as a teacher, counselor, etc.  Reference Form PDF

Must be available during the summer of 2024 (with a June/July start)

We will be accepting applications for employers willing to hire an eligible student candidate until Friday, March 1, 2024. Submit an application for interest in hiring an intern, volunteering to conduct interviews, volunteering as a mentor, or all of the above!
