Paz Gomez is Past President of the San Diego & Imperial Counties Chapter. She is also the Deputy City Manager, Public Works, City of Carlsbad, responsible for transportation, utilities, facilities and fleet vehicles, environmental sustainability, capital improvement program engineering, maintenance, construction management and inspection, and contracts administration.
She was previously the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Infrastructure/Public Works, City of San Diego, from 2015 to 2018. She was a Vice President with AECOM (formerly URS) from 2011 to 2015. In 2011, she retired as a Captain in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps, with her last tour on active duty as Commanding Officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center, Port Hueneme, California.
Paz is a Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, Green Building Engineer and Certified Public Manager. She received her BS in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University, MS in Civil Engineering from Stanford University, and MS in Management from Troy University.
